Here Are 4 Reasons Why Getting Married In Lake Como Is The Superior Choice

If you're planning your wedding in Italy, it will be an unforgettable experience.

I have compiled a list of reasons why I think this is one of the best places to tie the knot al Lago di Como, as it is called in Italian.

1. Beauty

As a wedding photographer, it is only natural that I will put this reason first.

We will want to make sure that your wedding photographs will last for a lifetime and that you will have no regrets when going through them afterwards.

Just like many locations in Italy, such as Venice, Florence, Amalfi, and more, all offer breathtaking visuals for you and others.

Below, I've listed several locations that make for a stunning backdrop for engagement or wedding photos.

The result will be, that each photo of the two of you, or even of the bridal party at the reception, will be an artwork that you cannot wait to frame and hang on the walls of your home.

(On a side note: of course, we do deliver pictures printed and framed as well, if this is what you're after. Contact us or head to our Shop)

2. Organisation

It is no secret that there are basically two faces to the Italian culture, which mainly is separated by two words: South and North.

There is no discrimination in this; it simply is a fact.

Sure, we don't want to over-generalise, but we are talking about the average southern culture, as opposed to the average northern culture.

While the south offers amazing hospitality, warm and friendly culture, easy-going and relaxed atmosphere, where people almost naturally look after each other, it also comes with its weaknesses.

One of those weaknesses can be being overly lax when it comes to organisation and being on time, or, paradoxically, being overly strict when it comes to breaking local culture, such as eating outside of local mealtimes.

The north is different.

Northern Italy famously is more business-oriented and reserved, which some may interpret as stand-offish, or even snobby.

At the same time, the North offers a more structured and orderly approach to business as well as life in general.

And if we look at the fact that a wedding takes a whole lot of organising into account, it is easy to see what I mean, when I say that the North lends itself to getting married and having a well-organised party with family and friends.

Also, since Lake Como is strategically well-placed, we know of plenty of English-speaking professionals that are within reach to make your wedding day run as smoothly as possible.

Some of these professionals include the following:

Wedding planners, hairdressers, wedding dress fitters, florists, cake makers, car hire places, photographers, video makers, and many more.

Just get in touch here, and we'll be more than happy to provide the service ourselves or refer you to the right person.

We're open. Because... sharing is caring.

3. Luxury

Remember those days in which the English shop Harrolds was famous for getting an elephant delivered in a week, if one really insisted on it?

Even though those days are over, in and around Como those days are just starting...

I do not recommend getting an elephant in for your wedding, albeit it would make for some awesome wedding pictures, but the concept of getting what you want, and of the quality that you prefer, is real and within grasp.

This means getting your hands on a beautifully elegant luxury boat to take you to your favourite location is no hurdle at all. Not only will you get a yacht, but a beautifully looking, and fully-operational one. One that will make those watching the drone pictures and videos pop their eyes out.

If you dream of getting a luxury historical car with a professional chauffeur, it is already waiting for you.

If instead you're after the best food in the world, this is the place to be in.

They can source food from all over the world and all over Italy, while it has less chance of going off due to the milder climate. Your world is literally your oyster up here.

Do you dream of taking off to your favourite location, whether for sightseeing or for sleeping in a different hotel the next night? Why not take a seaplane directly from the lake? This way you can fly intimately, continuing your trip with honeymoon vibes.

We do have the right contacts, so get in touch here if you have any specific requests, or if you'd like to know our prices in general.

4. Hotels & Reception Venues

Even though this reason is listed as last, this has got to be one of the best reasons.

The royal luxury estates on Lake Como have an absolutely unique feeling, in which you and your guests will feel the absolute exclusivity of the place you will celebrate your wedding in, while offering amazing hotel rooms for stress-free nights after your celebrations.

If you're unsure and would like some assistance, feel free to get in touch with me, and I'll be sure to help out in finding the right place.

Take for example Villa Balbiano, a historical residence on the west side of the lake that is located in one of the oldest towns, dating back over one thousand years.

The garden surrounding Villa Balbiano is marvellous, and the residence itself offers an indoor pool for even more relaxation.

This is, by the way, the place in which the recent film "House of Gucci" was filmed in, just to give you an idea of its prestige.

Another highly sought-after estate is Villa Balbianello. Similar name, totally different feel, as you can tell from their website.

It is just as exclusive.

For example, even just to visit their garden, you will need an appointment and pay to put your foot on their grounds.

It used to be a monastery, located on the tip of a peninsula, so you will not be short of breathtaking views wherever you turn.

There is a courtyard where ceremonies are performed with tall-standing arches that open the view to the lake.

This is the place to be, whether as a guest, or as the bride and groom.

Villa Carlotta is an estate that throws you back in time to what it was like to live the luxury lifestyle during Napoleon's days.

The place has everything, including famous artworks and sculptures, right within the premises.

One venue that definitely has experience in holding wedding celebrations is the Relais Villa Vittoria, combining luxury and history.

This charming hotel has everything to make your wedding "cinematic", with its own piano bar and an all-round service for all your needs.

It is only steps away from a beach and can hold up to 60 guests.

Like most luxury venues, the Relais Villa Vittoria is also ideal for intimate weddings.

The resort has 13 rooms, which means that it can easily accommodate 26 people staying overnight, if booked in advance.

If you're after something resembling a nature resort with the spring waters and trees surrounding it having history for its beneficial properties, Villa Pliniana may be the choice of your dreams.

Built almost 500 years ago in medieval times the indoor frescos on its ceilings and the outdoor pillars in front of the outdoor fountains will leave you enchanted.

A true gem on Lake Como.
